CEBU CITY – Police here are preparing for the arrival of the “ber” months this early.
Police Lt. Col. Maria Theresa Macatangay, deputy city director for operations of the Cebu City Police Office, said it is during the “ber” months that crimes usually increase.
With this, security preparations are already being mapped out, said Macatangay.
“There will be meetings with force multipliers such as barangay tanods and security officers of big establishments here,” said Macatangay.
The goal of the police is to prevent petty crimes such thefts in malls that attract people as the Yuletide season approaches, Macatangay added.
Macatangay said that they have intensified deployment to prevent crimes and comply with the five-minute response during emergencies.
“Part of our anti-criminality strategies is the deployment of force multipliers and of course our police,” said Macatangay.
The CCPO will increase police visibility in downtown areas, especially on Colon St., one of the city’s most crowded areas, Macatangay said.
“We have already intensified our intelligence monitoring to monitor the possible arrival of notorious criminals from other regions,” said Macatangay.
