3 Chinese nationals arrested for 'kidnapping, serious illegal detention' --NBI
Three Chinese nationals have been arrested in Paranaque City for the “kidnapping and serious illegal detention of a man,” the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) said on Thursday, August 14.
Those arrested last August 8 were identified by the NBI as Zhou Tao, Jin Cai, and Junying Lyu.
The NBI said the three foreigners were arrested during a rescue operation conducted by operatives of the NBI-Cybercrime Division (NBI-CCD) at a condominium unit in Paranaque City where the male victim was found and a desktop was seized.
“Victim positively identified the three individuals as those responsible for his unlawful detention,” it also said.
It added that the seized was a pair of handcuffs used against the victim, whose nationality was not divulged.
The NBI said it acted on the report of the friend of the victim who was allegedly “being unlawfully detained and coerced into working” for the suspects.
The friend informed the NBI that the victim was threatened with death if he would attempt to escape.
It was not known immediately if charges have been filed against those arrested.
