Casa Reyes finds a new home at Ayala Malls Manila Bay
The Filipino bistro pairs heirloom flavors with a refreshed, inviting space
Casa Reyes Bistro Filipino has opened its doors at Ayala Malls Manila Bay, bringing its signature mix of family recipes, comfort food, and Filipino hospitality to a larger audience. The third branch blends the warmth of a home kitchen with a polished setting designed for today’s diners.
The restaurant traces its roots to matriarch Teresita “Mama Sita” R. Reyes, whose Sunday meals inspired the flavors and spirit of the menu. Christine Bautista, who leads the bistro, said the new location is about staying true to those traditions while offering a more refined dining experience.
“I grew up enjoying our love-infused Sunday brunches that served thoughtful, delicious, home-cooked meals by my grandmother, Mama Sita,” Christine said. “It’s still your favorite comfort food — just with an elevated experience.”
The interiors, designed by Chippy and Lex Ledesma of Studio Matthew, echo the charm of an ancestral home. Emerald green walls meet marble surfaces, wooden accents, and solihiya patterns, evoking an era when family meals were central to the day. The goal, the designers said, was to create a space that felt timeless yet welcoming.
The menu highlights the bistro’s best-known dishes: tender chicken barbecue, slow-braised wagyu mechado, peanut-rich kare-kare, crispy adobong pusit, and the soft, sweet bibingka cheesecake. Desserts lean into nostalgia, with flavors of Pinoy gelato such as choco mallows, Baguio strawberries and cream, and ube queso.
Co-owner Maria Lourdes Reyes, daughter of Mama Sita, said the location is meant to bring together the old and the new. “We wanted to create a place that felt both nostalgic and new, where tradition meets today’s tastes,” she said.
Level 2 of Central Garden in Building B now holds what the family calls a dining room for all. A place where meals are shared, stories told, and comfort food is served with the same heart it has always had.
