185 Bilibid's PDLs complete DepEd's Alternative Learning Program
A total of 185 persons deprived of liberty (PDLs) at the New Bilibid Prison (NBP) in Muntinlupa City finished the Alternative Learning Program (ALS) of the Department of Education (DepEd), the Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) said.
In a statement, the BuCor said the graduation for the PDLs was held last August 8. Those who finished the ALS are PDLs at the NBP’s maximum-security camp.
Of the graduates, 106 finished Accreditation and Equivalency (A&E) Junior High School, while 79 finished A&E Elementary and they all received certificates from DepEd, it added.
The BuCor said: “This ceremony stands as a celebration of academic achievement and a symbol of hope, redemption, and the continuing journey towards a better future for every PDL learner.”
It urged all PDLs to enroll at ALS so “they will become citizens of character and lofty ideals as they prepare themselves for social reintegration.”
