P198-M 'fake' Louis Vuitton products seized in Laguna, Pasay City -- NBI
Almost P198 million worth of alleged fake Louis Vuitton products were seized by the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) during operations in Pasay City and Laguna.
In a statement on Wednesday, August 6, the NBI said the counterfeit products were seized during the service of search warrants in Laguna and Pasay City last July 21 and 26, respectively.
It reminded the public against patronizing counterfeit or pirated products to protect the intellectual property rights of owners and enhance economic growth.
It said the operation was conducted on request by the representative of Louis Vuitton due to trademark infringement in violation of Section 155 in relation to Section 170 of Republic Act (RA) 8292, the Intellectual Property Code of the Philippines.
It also said that during the operation, a total of 1,736 counterfeit products were seized.
In Laguna, the counterfeit products were seized in Calamba City, Sta. Rosa City and Binan City, while in Pasay City the seized products were taken from five stalls.
