2 Grade 11 students nabbed for smoking weed

CEBU CITY – Two male Grade 11 students were arrested after they were caught using marijuana near a university in Barangay Sambag 1 here on Tuesday afternoon, Aug. 5.
The two students, aged 18 and 16, were heading home after classes when they decided to “smoke and chill.”

They were arrested after operatives of the Abellana Police Station received a call through 911 hotline that a group of students were having a pot session.
Responding police caught the two classmates in the act of sniffing marijuana. Seized from them were a lighter and two handrolled papers believed to contain dried marijuana leaves, police said.
The 18-year-old student was brought to the police station while his 16-year-old classmate was turned over to social workers for debriefing.
The two students claimed that when they decided to smoke and chill, they chanced upon man puffing a cigarette.
The two classmates said the man handed them two sticks and lit them.
The 18-year-old student said they didn’t know that marijuana was given to them.
Police said charges for violating Section 11, Article II, of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 will be filed against the two students.
