6 dead, 2 still missing from stormy weather in Western Visayas in July

ILOILO CITY – Six people died and two persons remain missing from the stormy weather last month in Western Visayas region, latest data released by the Regional Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council-6 chaired by the Office of Civil Defense-6 on the impact of the ‘’habagat’’ (southwest monsoon) intensified by tropical cyclones ‘’Crising,’’ ‘’Dante,’’ and ‘’Emong’’ said.

Two persons drowned in Iloilo City – a 14-year-old old boy who was swept away by the strong current at Buntatala Creek while swimming with friends and a 22-year-old man in Molo District.
In Guimaras province, two fishermen were rescued after they were thrown overboard their fishing boat in the sea of Sibunag town.
In Iloilo province, a 22-year-old fisherman died when he was swept away by strong waves.
According to his father, he tried to fix their fishing boat when he was suddenly swept away. His body floated away and discovered on the shores of Iloilo City.
In Aklan, a man died after he was swept away by strong river current in Tangalan town.
A man drowned in Santa Barbara town in Iloilo, but this was not listed by the RDRRMC-6 as it still needs to be validated.
The Antique Provincial DRRM Office is still looking for the two men swept away two weeks go by strong river current in Sebaste town.
