50 persons convicted of human trafficking in first half of 2025 -- IACAT
Fifty persons have been convicted of various human trafficking offenses during the first half of 2025, the Inter-Agency Council Against Trafficking (IACAT) said on Wednesday, July 30.
“‘Yun po ang ating strong commitment (this is our strong commitment), not only to rescue victims but to file cases against their perpetrators,” stated IACAT Executive Director Hannah Lizette Manalili of the Department of Justice (DOJ) during a press conference.
Of those convicted, Manalili noted that 14 of them were found guilty of sex trafficking while one for illegal child adoption.
She said those convicted were among the 111 persons charged by IACAT and other member agencies.
Aside from prosecuting perpetrators of trafficking, she pointed out that “we have provided support to a total of 900 victims of various forms of trafficking for the first of half of 2025 through the IACAT operations center.”
