SAN FERNANDO CITY, La Union – The province of La Union is under a state of calamity due to the severe impact of successive tropical cyclones and the southwest monsoon or ''habagat.''
The Sangguniang Panlalawigan has approved Resolution No. 1410-2025 placing the province under a state of calamity that allows the use of emergency funds, price control measures, and immediate response efforts to aid affected communities.
The public was advised to stay alert and uphold the spirit of unity during the state of calamity.
Gov. Mario Eduardo C. Ortega II received relief assistance – 1,500 food packs and 1,500 non-food packs – from the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corp. for families displaced by Emong.
Meanwhile, the province of Pampanga was placed under a state of calamity due to the effects of the prolonged and intense rains from the southwest monsoon and successive tropical cyclones.
The Sangguniang Panlalawigan approved Resolution 9405 placing the province under a state of calamity.
More than 500,000 residents from almost 300 barangays were affected. More than 200 barangays were flooded and 3,000 residents sheltering in evacuation centers in 83 barangays.
Pampanga sustained P470 million and P3 million in damage to agriculture and livestock.
