86 Leyte Regional Prison's PDLs completed Alternative Learning System
A total of 86 persons deprived of liberty (PDLs) at the Leyte Regional Prison (LRP) completed various educational levels under the government’s Alternative Learning System (ALS), the Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) said.
The BuCor said the graduation ceremony of the PDLs was held last Thursday, July 24, at the LRP’s facility in Abuyog, Leyte.
Of the PDLs who finished the ALS, 11 took the Basic Literacy Program (BLP), 25 finished elementary, and 50 completed junior high school, it also said.
The bureau said: “The success of the ALS program at LRP stands as clear evidence of how educational partnerships forge pathways for profound personal transformation.”
It also said the system is aligned with the bureau’s initiatives of restoring dignity to PDLs and equipping them with the tools that are necessary for successful reintegration into society upon release.
