NBI rescues girl from 'online sexual abuse, exploitation' in Davao Oriental
A girl was rescued by the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) from online sexual abuse and exploitation of children (OSAEC) in Banaybanay, Davao Oriental on Thursday, July 24.
In a statement, the NBI said, the girl – who was not identified – was rescued by operatives of the NBI’s Anti-Human Trafficking Division (AHTRAD) and South Eastern Mindanao Regional Office (SEMRO).
It said the rescue operation stemmed from the arrest of several persons, including a certain Jacky Lou Geraban Parohinog alias Jacky, last June 3 in Lupon, Davao Oriental for violation of Republic Act (RA) 11930, the OSAEC law, and Anti-Child Sexual Abuse or Exploitation Materials (CSAEM) Act.
It said that the investigation showed an account with an alias “Ate Bibian” was found supplying CSAEMs to Jacky. The account led to the identification of the victim and her eventual rescue, it also said.
Following the rescue operation, the NBI said the victim positively identified the facilitators involved in the said commission of the crime.
Thus, it also said, criminal charges will be filed against the identified facilitators.
The rescued victim was turned over to social workers for their supervision and care.
