WTFu by MR. FU: The Red Carpet moments at 8th EDDYs

I recently hosted the red carpet segment of the 8th Eddys at the Marriott Hotel. This is my second year. Thank you to the Society of Philippine Entertainment Editors (SPEEd)! (di naman siguro napilitan  lang si Presidente Salve, di ba Tito Gorgy?!) But last year, I was hosting solo; this time, I was with the newbie actress Alexa Miro. (so may sasalo na pag iihi!)  I first met her when she was a guest on our show, Marites University, last year. (so knows ko sya pero di naman kami close!) She requested a rehearsal before our actual hosting stint (first time kasi ni ate!), but I said no and just gave her some pointers. (naloka sya na sabi kong huwag na!) Alexa admits that she gets starstruck when seeing big stars. (pero nakaka-talk naman si ate mo!)
We were not just prepared for one of the Icon Awardees, Ms. Odette Khan. We were asking her to give a message to aspiring actors when she suddenly instructed Alexa to do impromptu acting. Ms. Odette wanted Alexa to take the role of an angry woman. Alexa internalized, faced the camera, and delivered her lines.(sumisigaw sa red carpet  ha!) Ms. Odette was impressed. (paano kaya kung hindi?!)

Interviewing National Artists Kidlat Tahimik and Ricky Lee was another highlight of the night. I even reminded Direk Kidlat Tahimik about our interview years ago. I told him I will never forget what he said about the “dwende” in each of us. (na may duwende ang bawat isa satin na gumagabay!)
We had fun talking with veteran actresses Sylvia Sanchez and Lorna Tolentino. Sylvia remembered one incident when we were at a salon talking about juicy gossip.( muntik kami mapahamak!may nakarinig kasi!) Ms. LT, on the other hand, was careful to reveal some of our internal jokes. (kaya laugh na lang kami!) Sylvia received an extraordinary citation for her contributions as a film producer, while Ms. LT won Best Supporting Actress for Espantaho. (lalo silang gumanda ha! pareho raw sila ng doktor!) She was also there for SPEEd's tribute for Nay Lolit Solis. (hello, Sneezy!)

Our segment with Ogie Diaz was hilarious. He attended the event to receive his Joe Quirino Lifetime Achievement Award. He joked: “Masarap makatanggap ng award nang hindi kailangang magbayad ng mga mesa o bumili ng ticket." (ang say ko ay wala namang mesa sa loob ng venue!)
We saw the arrival of Alden Richards, Dennis Trillo, and Marian Rivera, but they did not go to our area for the interview. Their handlers did not allow them because Alexa and I were standing near the logos of sponsors. Some Eddys sponsors have conflicts with their endorsements. (di sila pwedeng tumayo dun! pero di sila umattitude ha!) Alden received the Box Office Hero award for Hello Love Again, Dennis bagged the Best Actor trophy for Green Bones, and Marian got the Best Actress recognition for Balota. (ako naman ang star of the night!)
