Twenty-six years after his escape from the Iwahig Prison and Penal Farm (IPPF) in Palawan, a person deprived of liberty (PDL) has been rearrested in Cebu.
The Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) did not identify the rearrested PDL. It said the 63-year-old PDL has been convicted of frustrated murder and illegal possession of firearms and ammunition.
In a statement, the BuCor said that the PDL was rearrested in Purok Tambis in Barangay Vito, Minglanilla town last July 11 by joint operatives of the IPPF recovery team and members of the Philippine National Police (PNP).
It said that after the arrest, the PDL was brought to the Minglanilla Municipal Police Station for booking and proper documentation.
