SAN FERNANDO CITY, La Union – La Union is on full alert for tropical storm “Crising.”
Gov. Mario Eduardo C. Ortega initiated a pre-disaster risk assessment meeting on Thursday to discuss preparations.
"All preparations are now in place. Rest assured that our province is ready for the possible effects of this tropical depression," Ortega said.
The Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO) has placed its Emergency Operations Center on blue alert status mandating all relevant agencies and stakeholders to enter full response mode effective 4 p.m. Thursday.
Ortega directed local government units to implement all the necessary preparedness measures, prepare required resources, and activate their incident command centers in case of immediate rescue response or possible evacuation of residents.
"Always be prepared, don't be complacent, and pack your GO bags with your necessities. Have enough food for three days so that in case you get isolated, you'll have something to eat."
The PDRRMO assured that all rescue vehicles and assets are on standby for mobilization – one ambulance, three high-lift off-road vehicles, one utility vehicle, one transport vehicle, one boom truck, one rescue truck, one jetski, and three rubber boats.
Four teams, composed of four members each, are ready for deployment to critical areas across the province.
More than 800 evacuation centers equipped with essential supplies are now ready to accommodate residents who may be affected.
Ortega advised the residents to be on alert, monitor weather bulletins, and coordinate with authorities to ensure their safety.
