BuCor sets launching of PDLs' integration project in Palawan
The Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) is set to launch in Puerto Princesa City in Palawan an integration project that is aimed at providing community support to released persons deprived of liberty (PDLs).
In a statement, the BuCor said the project, dubbed Blue and Red Ribbon Project, will be launched in Barangay Iwahig in Puerto Princesa City.
It said that Barangay Iwahig will be one of the pioneering communities for the project.
It also said that last July 8, the External Affairs Section (EAS) of Iwahig Prison and Penal Farm (IPPF) conducted a field visit to Barangay Iwahig for the implementation of the project.
It added that the project was inspired by Singapore’s Yellow Ribbon Project, a community initiative that was established to provide second chances to former offenders.
The BuCor’s version of the project will promote community awareness through knowledge-sharing, advocacy, and partnership-building.
“It seeks to combat stigma and foster community support for the reintegration of PDLs,” the BuCor said.
