Man high on drugs hacks father dead

CEBU CITY – A man believed to be high on illegal drugs hacked and killed his father in their home in Barangay Sudlon 1 here.
Police said the incident happened on Friday night, July 11, but it was just last Sunday, July 13, that the suspect identified as Jojo Overnario was arrested.
The suspect admitted hacking his father Victor in the head, police said.
Police said Jojo claimed that someone whispered to him to kill his father.
The suspect took a bolo and attacked his father.
Police said the suspect admitted that he was a frequent drug user.
In another incident, a 64-year-old widower was critically injured after he was hacked by his 62-year-old brother in Barangay Captain Claudio, Toledo City, Cebu over the weekend.
Ben Alegado succumbed to hack wounds in the head and hands.
The suspect, Pantaleon Alegado, was arrested after the incident.
Police Staff Sgt. Roberto Eribito, investigator of the Toledo City Police Station, said jealousy was the motive of the crime.
Police said the attack happened while the victim was having a drinking session with the suspect's former girlfriend.
Police said the suspect, who is also a widower, noticed that his brother and ex-girlfriend were sweet to each other.
The suspect confronted his brother, triggering an argument. The suspect took a bolo and repeatedly hacked his brother.
Neighbors helped bring the victim to a hospital.
The woman could no longer be located after the incident, police said.
Police said the victim was not interested in filing charges against his brother.
