The 37-year-old suspect, Gervy, was described by the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency-Central Visayas (PDEA-7) as a high-value target.
The PDEA-7 said that Gervy was arrested and eventually convicted for illegal drug charges in June 2016. He was released from jail last April.
Leia Alcantara, information officer of PDEA-7, said reports that the suspect went back to selling illegal drugs came out.
Alcantara said they conducted a three-week monitoring before the suspect was arrested.
Seized from the suspect was 100 grams of suspected shabu worth P680,000.
Alcantara confirmed that Punta Princesa, where the suspect lives, is one of the areas in Cebu City that have been declared as drug-cleared.
“In drug-cleared barangays, continuous monitoring and validation of reported illegal drug activities and the sustained conduct of anti-illegal drug operations are critical in ensuring that such barangays are able to maintain their status,” said Alcantara.
Alcantara said that even before the suspect’s arrest, his alleged illegal drug activities had been monitored by the Barangay Anti-Drug Abuse Council.
