Every public official must look in the mirror, assess themselves—Palace
Malacañang believes that every public servant must be able to assess themselves, whether they are doing their job or just politicking or going on vacations.
Palace Press Officer and PCO Undersecretary Claire Castro (Betheena Unite)
Palace Press Officer and Communications Undersecretary Claire Castro said this as a response to the statement of Vice President Sara Duterte, calling out President Marcos to look in the mirror after he urged national and local officials to stop politicking.
Castro agreed that all public officials must truly assess themselves. And for Marcos' part, she said, he fully knows what direction he is taking.
“Tama naman po na ang bawat tao, lalong lalo na po ang public servant ay dapat nananalamin at ina-asses niya yung sarili niya kung siya ba ay nagtatrabaho, namumulitika, o nagbabakasyon lang (It is only right that every person, especially public servants, should reflect and assess themselve whether they are truly working, politicking, or just on vacation),” Castro said in a Palace briefing on Wednesday, July 9.
“Ang Pangulong Marcos Jr. alam po niya ang direksyon niya. Alam po niya ang dapat na gawing trabaho at yan po ang pinag-uutos sa lahat ng public servants lalung lalo na sa ilalim ng Executive Department. Ang utos sa amin ay magtrabaho, iwasan ang pamumulitika (President Marcos Jr. knows his direction. He knows the work that needs to be done, and that is what he expects from all public servants, especially those under the Executive Department. His directive to us is to work and avoid politicking),” Castro added.
The Palace official pointed out that Marcos “does not waste time when it comes to helping the people,” adding that “work is truly what’s on his mind.”
She also called on the Vice President to also review her statements, insisting that the President is not the one throwing attacks.
Meanwhile, Castro refused to comment further on former president Rodrigo Duterte's wish to be cremated in the Netherlands once he dies, saying it's a family matter.
“Family matters po 'yan at pang pamilyang usapin. So, sa kanila pong desisyon 'yan (That is a family matter and a private family issue. So, it’s their decision to make),” Castro said.
