Department of Justice (DOJ) Secretary Jesus Crispin C. Remulla has submitted his application for the country’s Ombudsman, the post to be vacated on July 27 by Ombudsman Samuel R. Martires.
“Nai-file na kahapon (I have filed it yesterday),” he said on Friday, July 4, at the sidelines of an event at the New Bilibid Prison (NBP) in Muntinlupa City.
Remulla submitted his application to the Judicial and Bar Council (JBC) which, after deliberations and public interviews, will submit its nominees to President Marcos for appointment.
The JBC is a constitutional office that accepts, screens and nominates appointments in the judiciary, the Office of the Ombudsman and its deputies, and the Legal Education Board.
The council is headed by Chief Justice Alexander G. Gesmundo as ex-officio chairperson.
The JBC had earlier announced that the application or nomination for the Ombudsman post ends today, July 4.
