Chef Josh Boutwood rolls out a compact, thoughtful lunch menu of rice bowls and sandwiches in his newest concept at Shangri-La Plaza

Juniper by Josh Boutwood, the newest restaurant from the acclaimed chef, has added a focused and flavor-forward lunch menu that caters to the midday crowd. Now available Mondays through Fridays from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., the lineup features a small but well-curated selection of rice bowls and sandwiches—each crafted with the same attention to detail Josh is known for.
Located on Level 1 of the Streetscape wing in Shangri-La Plaza Mall, Juniper is a calm, minimalist space named after the berry that gives gin its bright, distinct note. While its inspiration nods to the bar, the restaurant has quickly gained attention for food that’s creative, composed, and free from the constraints of genre.

The new lunch set menu fits that spirit. Priced from P375, the rice bowls range from the savory comfort of gyudon with soy egg and kimchi, to the freshness of soy-glazed salmon with edamame and tapioca. Diners looking for something heartier may gravitate to the teriyaki pork belly with pickled cucumber and bean sprouts, or the miso-marinated chicken wings paired with cabbage and sesame.
On the sandwich side, Juniper offers elevated versions of lunch classics. The grilled cheese features both cheddar and gruyere, served with a side of spiced tomato. Meanwhile, the turkey ham sandwich is layered with sun-dried tomato, arugula, and a housemade garlic aioli—clean flavors that don’t weigh heavy but satisfy.
Juniper’s ambiance makes it a suitable spot for solo diners, working lunches, or quiet meetups. The service, much like at Josh’s other restaurants, is attentive without being obtrusive.

For those visiting outside of lunch hours, the restaurant’s all-day offerings remain a draw. Signatures include sourdough with whipped butter and parsley, wild mushroom with gruyere and white wine, and tapioca and cheddar fritters with spiced tomato sauce and pecorino romano. Bigger plates like the oven-roasted chicken with gremolata and chickpea and porkchop with mustard and M1 showcase Boutwood’s balanced approach to modern dining.
As its name suggests, Juniper also boasts a curated list of gin-based cocktails, perfect for sipping whether it's a casual lunch or dinner out.
