PAGASA: Cloudy skies, scattered rains expected on June 24 due to LPA, 'habagat'
(PAGASA)
The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) on Tuesday, June 24, said that cloudy skies with isolated rains are expected across parts of the Philippines due to a low pressure area (LPA) and the southwest monsoon, also known as “habagat.”
In its latest weather forecast, PAGASA said that as of 3 a.m., the LPA was estimated, based on all available data, to be located 210 km west-southwest of Cubi Point, Subic Bay International Airport, or 290 km west of Ambulong, Tanauan City, Batangas.
Meanwhile, PAGASA noted that the southwest monsoon is affecting Southern Luzon, the Visayas, Mindanao, and the rest of Central Luzon.
According to the forecast, cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms are expected in Pangasinan, Zambales, and Bataan due to the LPA.
Metro Manila, Calabarzon, the Bicol Region, Mimaropa, Western Visayas, the Zamboanga Peninsula, and the rest of Central Luzon will experience cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms brought by the habagat.
The southwest monsoon will also bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms to the rest of the country.
Additionally, localized thunderstorms will cause partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms in the rest of Luzon.
PAGASA warned of possible flash floods or landslides due to moderate to, at times, heavy rains during severe thunderstorms.
