2 ex-POGO workers arrested at NAIA for fake exit clearances
Two Chinese nationals, who worked for the now banned Philippine Offshore Gaming Operators (POGOs), have been arrested at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) for presenting fake emigration exit clearances (ECCs), the Bureau of Immigration (BI) said on Sunday, June 22.
BI Commissioner Joel Anthony M. Viado identified them as Yu Ziming, 32, and Wu Liping, 30, both of whom were intercepted last June 20 before they could board their flight to Hong Kong.
The BI said the they were found with fake ECC which is a requirement for foreign nationals who have been working in the Philippines and intending to leave the country permanently.
Initial investigation revealed that both individuals previously worked for POGOs, it said. They are now detained at the BI’s Warden Facility in Taguig City while awaiting deportation.
Viado said: “Let this be a warning to those attempting to circumvent immigration laws through fake documents. We will continue weeding out fraud and upholding the integrity of our borders.”
