300 Bilibid's PDLs transferred to Iwahig Prison in Palawan
Three hundred persons deprived of liberty (PDLs) at the New Bilibid Prison (NBP) in Muntinlupa City were transferred on Friday, June 20, to the Iwahig Prison and Penal Farm (IPPF) in Palawan.
BuCor Director General Gregorio Pio P. Catapang Jr. said transfer is part of the decongestion of NBP and as support to the manpower needs of other prison facilities for their agricultural projects.
Catapang said the transfer “also aligns with the preparation efforts for the anticipated closure of NBP in 2028.”
The transferred PDLs were escorted by 100 BuCor personnel led by Chief Correctional Inspector Alberto Andrada, and assisted by support units from the Philippine National Police (PNP) and the Philippines Coast Guard (PCG).
Last June 13, BuCor transferred 300 NBP’s PDLs to the Sablayan Prison and Penal Farm (SPPF) in Occidental Mindoro.
