In a press briefing, Communications Undersecretary Claire Castro said the President left the country with a small delegation on Thursday afternoon, June 19, to launch the Philippine Pavilion in the Expo.
“Ito (Philippine Pavilion) po ay nagtatampok po ito ng mga, of course, yung mga mayayaman nating kultura at magaganda nating landscapes (The Philippine Pavilion features our rich culture and beautiful landscapes),” she said.
“Ito po ay isa sa parte para mas lalong mapalawig natin ang turismo sa bansa (This is part of our efforts to promote our country’s tourism),” she added.
The Philippine Pavilion, themed “Nature, Culture & Community — Woven Together for a Better Future,” showcases the nation’s rich heritage, biodiversity, and creativity. Its woven facade, crafted by Filipino artisans, symbolizes unity in diversity.
According to the World Expo website, visitors will experience “an immersive journey” through a forest of woven artworks and an interactive AI-powered fiesta.
“The pavilion highlights sustainability through its circular design, use of indigenous materials, and plans for a second life in the Philippines. Celebrating Filipino craftsmanship, the pavilion fosters global connections, promoting tourism, trade, and cultural exchange,” he said.
Aside from launching the Pavilion, Castro said President Marcos would also participate in business meetings during his trip.
He will also meet members of the Filipino community there before his expected return to Manila on the weekend.
