LTO probes lady motorcycle driver for dangerous road stunt

CEBU CITY – The Land Transportation Office-Central Visayas (LTO-7) is not taking a road stunt performed by a lady driver lightly.
The LTO-7 has launched an investigation and issued a show-cause order (SCO) against a woman, whose video of her performing dangerous stunts on a busy Mandaue City highway went viral on social media.
Based on the registration of the motorcycle, the woman was identified as Debbie Marie Amores Juit.
The incident, which the LTO-7 decribed as alarming, occurred on June 12. The video quickly gained traction online, sparking outrage and calls for accountability.
“The widely circulated footage clearly depicts the female rider engaging in a series of highly perilous maneuvers while operating her motorcycle amidst active traffic,” the LTO-7 said.
The stunts included letting go of the handlebars, leaning precariously to one side, and even briefly dancing while the vehicle was still in motion.
“Such actions not only endangered Juit herself but also posed a significant threat to other motorists on the road,” the LTO-7 said.
LTO-7 Director Glen Galario on June 13 issued an SCO directing Juit to appear in person before the LTO-7 Operations Division on N. Bacalso Ave. here.
The driver was required to provide a written explanation for her reckless behavior, which constitutes a violation of Section 48 under Republic Act 4136, commonly known as the Reckless Driving provision.
This incident represents a clear violation of traffic laws and a serious threat to public safety, Galario said. The rider endangered not only herself but also other motorists on the road through her reckless behavior.
Juit could gace stiff administrative sanctions, including the temporary suspension of her driver's license.
Galario reminded motorists to prioritize road safety at all times as he called for strict adherence to all traffic laws and regulations.
Galario warned that social media content promoting dangerous driving behavior will not be tolerated.
