BI assures full cooperation in Senate's probe on 'corruptions'
Immigration Commissioner Joel Anthoy M. Viado on Sunday, June 15, said the he and the Bureau of Immigration (BI) will fully cooperate with the Senate in the probe on alleged corruptions.
“We believe that the planned hearings at the Senate will help us further ferret out the undesirable elements in the agency and to sustain the momentum of our reforms,” Viado said.
Viado issued the statement in response to the pronouncement made by Sen. Sherwin Gatchalian that the Senate will conduct an inquiry on the “white paper” that allegedly came from “concerned BI employees” who accused the commissioner of corruption, including making favorable actions for persons involved in Philippine Offshore Gaming Operators (POGOs).
Viado said he has instructed BI officials and personnel to extend their full cooperation and participation in the Senate Investigation of alleged anomalies in the agency.
He assured the BI officials and personnel that “they have nothing to fear as Senator Gatchalian has a track record of fairness and impartiality.”
At the same time, Viado urged the “concerned employees’ who reportedly released the “white paper” to come out into the open to help in the investigation.
He assured the full protection of his office to the so-called “concerned employees.”
