ZAMBOANGA CITY -- Six candidates from two legislative districts here failed to file their Statement of Contributions and Expenditures (SOCE) during the deadline on June 11, a local election official revealed.
Atty. Stephen Roy Cañete, District 1 Election Officer, said three candidates in the district were not able to file their SOCEs -- a congressional candidate, a vice mayoral candidate, and Orlando Negrete, the mayoral candidate who died before the elections.
Three council candidates from the second district failed to file their SOCEs on time, reported Atty. Jan Christian Babiera, District 2 Election Officer.
Republic Act 7166 states that all national and local candidates, winning or losing, are required to file their SOCE within 30 days from the day of the election.
Sanctions for failure to file SOCE include barring them from assuming their posts and perpetual disqualification from holding public office.
