Pasig Mayor Vico Sotto on Tuesday, June 10, said the city government will fully support the Eastern Police District (EPD) when the Philippine National Police (PNP) starts to implements its five-minute response time program for public safety and order in the community.

Sotto made the statement during a simulation exercise conducted by the EPD for the PNP's 5-minute response time program, which was introduced under the leadership of PNP Chief Gen. Nicolas Torre III, held at the EPD Headquarters Conference Room in Caruncho Avenue, Pasig City.
He said the local government will fully support law enforcement agencies, noting, “Sila po, kung may mga request pa sila sa LGU, kung kaya naman agad-agad naman nating ibibigay yung mga request na ito (If they have any requests from the LGU, and if we are able to provide them, we will do so immediately).”
The EPD added that Sotto’s presence highlighted the importance of collaboration between the local government and law enforcement agencies in promoting community safety.
Also present were the chiefs of police of Mandaluyong, Marikina, and San Juan, along with the district staff.
The exercise tested the Pasig City Police’s operational readiness, response capabilities, coordination, and ability to manage high-pressure situations while ensuring public safety during various emergency scenarios.
It also aimed to enhance their skills and maintain consistent preparedness, especially in meeting the 5-minute response time target.
The simulation also featured various critical scenarios that tested communication, coordination, and tactical decision-making with the help of modern technology through the EPD Command Centers.
EPD District Director Brig. Gen. Aden Lagradante shared important insights during the simulation. He highlighted the importance of regular training, exercises, and preparedness to respond quickly to any threat or crisis.
“Ang ganitong mga pagsasanay ay mahalaga hindi lang para sa pisikal na kahandaan, kundi pati na rin sa mabilis na koordinasyon at maayos na pagpapatupad ng mga plano at pagbibigay responde sa oras ng pangangailangan (This kind of training is important, not just for physical readiness, but also for quick coordination, proper execution of planning, and timely response in times of emergencies),” he said.
Pasig CPS chief Col. Hendrix Mangaldan ensured that all components of the activity were carried out in accordance with standard protocols and best practices.
Sotto also thanked the police for their quick response and dedication. He added that training is important to keep the public’s trust and help make communities safer and more peaceful, not just in Pasig but across the eastern part of Metro Manila.

A post-exercise evaluation was also conducted to identify strengths and areas for improvement. Participants also shared observations and recommendations to help enhance police strategies toward a safer and more peaceful community.
