About P20 million worth of illegal drugs were seized in Davao City early Sunday, June 8, during an operation conducted by the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI).
In a statement, the NBI said the illegal drugs were seized during pre-dawn operation that was launched at 5 a.m. at a residential unit in Emily Homes, Cabantian.
The operation was conducted by the operatives of the NBI Southeastern Mindanao Regional Office (NBI SEMRO XI) led by Regional Director Arcelito C. Albao in coordination with Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) Region XI.
The NBI, however, did not disclose the names of those arrested during the operation.
Seized were 1.575 kilograms of methamphetamine hydrochloride or shabu worth P17.325 million; 4.885 kilograms of kush worth P5.86 million; a range of cannabis-based products; Big Chief Guava live resin; Sluggers HIT disposables; heat sealers and repackaging tools; and food delivery boxes from Foodpanda and Maxim used to conceal drug distribution.
“This operation reinforces NBI SEMRO XI’s unwavering commitment to combating illegal activities through intelligence driven law enforcement and inter-agency cooperation,” the NBI said.
It also said “the entry (of illegal drugs) and evidence recovery revealed a covert drug operation camouflaged under the guise of routine delivery service.”
The NBI said the operation was launched after the agency received a report that “a residential unit was being used as a suspected repacking and distribution hub for illegal drugs.”
“The operation was initiated based on a firsthand report from an informant who sought the help from NBI SEMRO XI,” it also said.
