- Candidates have until June 11 to file their SOCE
Only 19 out of 49 local candidates in Pateros have filed their Statement of Contributions and Expenditures (SOCE) as required by the Commission on Elections (Comelec).
Pateros Election Officer Armando Mallorca reminded candidates that they only have until June 11 to file their SOCE.
In Pateros, three candidates ran for mayor, three for vice mayor, 25 for councilor in District 1 and 18 for councilor in District 2 in the May 11 national and local elections.
According to the Comelec Political Finance and Affairs Department, all official candidates, political parties, and party-lists are required to file their SOCE “despite that they were elected or not; neither incurred expenses nor received any contribution; did not pursue or continue their campaign; self-funded their campaign; and withdrew their candidacy, unless the withdrawal was done officially before the start of campaign period.”
The SOCE must be filed within 30 days from the May 11 elections or until June 11, the Comelec stated.
“The deadline shall be final and non-extendible. Any SOCE filed beyond the deadline shall not be accepted. Submissions via registered mail, electronic mail, courier, or messenger services shall not be allowed and accepted. No elected candidate shall assume office unless the submission of SOCE is complied within the period allowed by law,” according to the Comelec website.
