Ronie Suan, 25, popularly known as “Boy Tapang” and a resident of Barangay Daan Lungsod, Alcoy town, Cebu province, surrendered to the Cebu City Police Office (CCPO) at noon on Friday, May 30. He was later released after posting P72,000 bail.
Suan’s arrest stemmed from charges filed against him for allegedly violating Republic Act 9262 or the Anti-Violence Against Women and Their Children Act.
He was arrested on a warrant dated May 26 issued by Judge Maria Ella Cecilia Dimaandal Dumlao-Escalante of the Cainta, Rizal, Regional Trial Court Branch 143 with a recommended bail of P72,000.
It was the second time that the vlogger was arrested. Last April 1, Suan was apprehended in Alcoy following accusations of physically abusing his live-in partner.
The complainant withdrew the charges but the case still progressed with the Prosecutor’s Office in Argao conducting inquest proceedings.
Suan denied assaulting his live-in partner. He posted P3,000 bail in the first arrest.
He was arrested by the CCPO City Intelligence Unit as part of ongoing Simultaneous Anti-Criminality Law Enforcement Operations in Central Visayas.
Suan has more than five million followers on Facebook. His latest arrest reportedly stemmed from charges filed by a female vlogger.
