A man has been arrested by the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) based on a “sextortion” complaint of his former girlfriend.
The NBI said the man, whose name was withheld, was arrested last May 19 during an entrapment operation conducted by the Organized and Transnational Crime Division (NBI-OTCD) at an establishment in Quezon City.
“According to the Complainant, the Subject was her former boyfriend, who coerced her into resuming their romantic relationship,” it said.
“He threatened to send intimate videos of her to her family if she did not comply with his demands,” it added.
Because of the threats, the NBI said the complainant sought the help of the NBI-OTCD which hatched an entrapment operation against her former boyfriend.
During the entrapment operation, the NBI said “subject continued to pressure the complainant to resume their relationship, stating that he would only delete the video and stop the threats if they would proceed to her condominium for sexual intercourse.”
After hearing the conversation, it said its operatives effected the arrest of the suspect who was presented for inquest before the Quezon City Prosecutor’s Office for grave threats and grave coercion under the Revised Penal Code (RPC); violation of Section 5(e), (g), and (i) of Republic Act (RA) No. 9262, the Anti-Violence Against Women and Their Children Act of 2004); and violation of Section 4(a) of RA No. 9995, the Anti-Photo and Video Voyeurism Act of 2009, all in relation to RA No. 10175, the Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012.
