BI sets deportation of 9 foreigners caught with P440-million cash at Mactan-Cebu airport
Nine foreigners face deportation after they were arrested last May 10 in possession of undeclared cash amounting to over P440 million at the Mactan-Cebu International Airport (MCIA), the Bureau of Immigration (BI) said.
“Immigration laws prohibit foreigners from engaging in activities that pose risks to national security,” said BI Commissioner Joel Anthony M. Viado in a statement.
“Once they face their criminal charges, these individuals will be deported and blacklisted from re-entering the Philippines,” Viado assured.
The nine foreigners and two Filipinos were arrested by the Philippine National Police Aviation Security Group (PNP AVSEGROUP) at the MCIA.
Of the nine foreigners, seven are Chinese nationals, one Indonesian, and one Kazakhstani, the BI said.
Of those arrested, the PNP said that Chinese national Wu Song is the subject of a red notice alert for fraud issued by the International Criminal Police Organization (Interpol), while his two compatriots – Li Fei and Chen Hao – have arrest orders for various crimes.
