The Southern Police District (SPD) announced on Tuesday, May 20, that they are still searching for two armed men who robbed a Japanese restaurant in Makati City on May 4 -- an unusual incident in which the suspects returned the stolen items and apologized.

The SPD said criminal charges have been filed against the suspects identified as “Tutoy” and “R.A.”.
The incident went viral on social media after footage showed the suspects, wearing helmets, entering the restaurant and declaring a hold-up.

“The case, which involves the unlawful taking of P25,000 in cash and personal documents, has been filed for Violation of Article 293 (Robbery) of the Revised Penal Code,” the SPD said.
On May 6, National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) chief Maj. Gen. Anthony Aberin said the robbers even apologized after returning the customers’ belongings.
“Noong umalis po sila ay nagpaalam pa raw po 'yung mga gumawa nito at humingi pa ng dispensa, at sinabi 'Sir, Ma’am, wala po kaming kinuha.' Kami po ay nagtataka kung ano ba ang motibo ng mga taong ito,” Aberin said. (Before leaving, the robbers said sorry for what they did, saying ‘Sir, Ma’am, we have returned everything to you.’ We are really baffled by their motive.)
The SPD vowed to work quickly to solve the case and urged the public to report any information that could help find the suspects.
