"Siguro naman sa tulong at awa ng Diyos baka itong Sabado hanggang Linggo sana makapag-proklama na tayo ng senador (Maybe, with the help and mercy of God, hopefully by Saturday to Sunday we can already proclaim the senators)," Garcia said.
"Kasi ang bilis naman eh, kita niyo po 98.9 percent na nga eh yung atin pong nandiyan kapiraso na lang yung kulang (Because it’s really fast already, as you can see, it's already at 98.9 percent, and what's left is just a small portion)," he added.
Garcia stated that perhaps even the remaining results will no longer have any effect. But Garcia clarified that the Comelec needs to complete 100 percent of the canvassing, and no Certificate of Canvass (COC) should be left out.
The poll chief earlier said that they expect to finish canvassing votes and then start announcing the winners for the national race in as early as five days.
Based on Comelec's website, a total of 92,494 (99.04 percent) of local Election Returns (ERs) have been received out of 93,387 ERs expected. Only 893 ERs are left to be received.
On the other hand, 215 overseas ERs (88.84 percent) out of 242 ERs expected have been received.
For COCs, the poll body expects to receive a total of 175.
This comprises one from the Local Absentee Voting (LAV), 82 provinces, 26 highly-urbanized cities, two district boards of canvassers, and 64 for overseas voting.
