Report foreigners participating in political activities-- BI
Bureau of Immigration (BI) Commissioner Joel Anthony M. Viado urged the public to report foreigners who are engaged in political activities.
Viado said the reports can be done through the BI’s Facebook page -- Facebook.com/officialbureauofimmigration.
He pointed out that “foreigners are welcome guests in the Philippines, but they must respect our laws and refrain from interfering in any political exercise.”
Among the prohibited activities of foreigners are participation in rallies, campaigns and political gatherings.
“These actions may be grounds for deportation,” Viado warned.
He explained that participation in rallies, campaigns and political gatherings by foreigners “is a violation of Philippine immigration policies which bar foreign involvement in political activities.”
Once deported, foreigners found violating immigration policies will be banned from returning to the Philippines, he added.
