CEBU CITY – The holding of the midterm polls in Region 7 on Monday, May 12, was peaceful, the Commission on Election-Central Visayas (Comelec-7) said.

Comelec-7 Regional Director Francisco Pobe Jr. said no major incidents were reported since voting started at 5 a.m.
While everything was relatively smooth, Pobe said there were misdelivery of ballots in some areas in Bohol and Cebu.
He said 19 ballots intended for Balamban town were delivered to Bantayan while 20 ballots were sent to Aloguinsan instead of Argao.
There were also 102 ballots that were delivered to Barangay Tambogon in San Remigio town instead of Barangay Lambason in the same town.
Also, 42 ballots that were supposed for Barangay Pardo in Cebu City were delivered to Candijay town, Bohol.
Some 44 ballots in various voting precincts in Mandaue City were also found to have no second page.
Pobe said the misdeliveries did not cause significant delays after the Comelec-7 immediately coordinated with concerned election officers.
The misdelivered ballots were sent to their intended areas following the needed security protocols, Pobe said.
For those ballots that needed to be transported by sea, the police and Philippine Coast Guard were tapped to ensure immediate delivery to designated polling precincts, Pobe added.
"It will not cause delay because under the statistical probability, there will be no hundred voting percentage in a clustered precinct," Pobe said.
Pobe estimated that the region will have 80 to 85 percent voters turnout.
Brig. Gen. Redrico Maranan, chief of the Police Regional Office-Central Visayas (PRO-7), inspected the various voting centers in Cebu.
Maranan checked if the planned security measures were effectively enforced.
No election-related violence was reported in the region as of posting time, Maranan said.
The PRO-7 deployed 9,170 personnel in more than 2,000 polling centers in the region.
In its report, the PRO-7 said seven vote-buying incidents-five in Bohol and two in Cebu-were recorded.
Five persons in Bohol and another five in Cebu were arrested for violation of the Comelec gun ban on Election Day.
