Senate President Francis “Chiz” Escudero and other incumbent senators voted early on Election Day, Monday, May 12, for the 2025 midterm elections.
Senate President Francis “Chiz” Escudero and his wife, Heart Evangelista voted early at the Buhatan Integrated School in Brgy. Buhatan, Sorsogon.
On the eve of election day, Escudero urged voters to exercise their right to vote for the country’s next set of leaders.
“Exercising one’s right to vote is the foundation of any working democracy,” the Senate chief said.
Meanwhile, Sen. Juan Miguel “Migz” Zubiri and his wife, Audrey, also voted this morning at the San Miguel Elementary School in Maramag, Bukidnon.
“Ang ating boto ay simbolo ng pananagutan at pagmamahal sa bayan (Our vote is a symble of responsibility and love for the nation). It is our voice: let’s use it wisely, with integrity and hope),” Zubiri said.
Other senators who voted were Senators Jinggoy Estrada and Joseph Victor “JV” Ejercito. Both voted at the Xavier School, Barangay Little Baguio, San Juan City.
Ejercito, voted together with his mother, former San Juan City Mayor Guia Gomez.
Sen. Loren Legarda also returned to her hometown in Antique to vote at 6:30 a.m. at the Magaba Elementary School—a Gabaldon heritage building which she helped restore based on a law she authored.
She voted together with Rep. Aa Legarda, her younger brother, in the same clustered precinct.
"Just like all other senior citizens who lined up first, and waited, I also waited in line. That's how it should be for everyone. We follow the rules, no exception. I pray for a peaceful, orderly, safe elections. Thank you to our teachers, non teaching personnel, police forces, watchers, lawyers, para legal, volunteers, cleaners, and all those on duty. God bless us all on this day, democracy in action!" Legarda wrote on her Facebook post.
Sen. Mark Villar, meanwhile, voted at the TS Cruz Elementary School, Almanza Dos, Las Piñas City. His parents, real estate magnate and former Senate leader Manny Villar, and wife, Sen. Cynthia Villar voted at the Las Piñas City National Science High School at around 6 a.m. on Election Day.
Senator Joel Villanueva, his father CIBAC Rep. Bro. Eddie Villanueva and Bocaue Mayor Jonjon Villanueva voted at the Bunlo Elementary School in Bocaue, Bulacan.
Meanwhile, Sen. Nancy Binay, who is running for Makati mayor casts her vote at the San Antonio Community Complex in Makati City. Sen. Nancy was accompanied by her husband, Pepito; son, Benjamin; daughter, Anya; her siblings, Junjun, Anne and JM; and parents former Vice President Jejomar Binay, and Dra. Elenita Binay.
On the other hand, Senate Minority Leader Aquilino "Koko" Pimentel III, who is now running for congressman of Marikina's first district, voted at the Leodegario Victorino Elementary School.
Pimentel earlier endorsed the administration’s senatorial slate, which he said, is "made up of experienced and capable leaders who can help President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. pass important laws and fulfill his plans for the country."
