SAN FERNANDO CITY, La Union – Three individuals allegedly engaged in vote-buying were apprehended through citizen’s arrest in Barangay Cuenca, Pugo, La Union, on May 12.
Police Major Lester Tannagan, Pugo chief of police, said concerned citizens informed them that the suspects were holding money, sample ballots, other related political campaign materials and paraphernalia and buying votes in the barangay.
The suspects and seized election paraphernalia were taken by concerned citizens to the Pugo Municipal Police Station. They face vote-buying cases.
Abra shooting
CAMP DANGWA, Benguet – Two individuals were shot and wounded by unidentified suspects during voting at Sagap Elementary School in Barangay Sagap, Bangued, Abra, on May 12.
Police Lt. Col. Carolina Lacuata, Police Regional Office-Cordillera information officer, said initial investigation by the Bangued Municipal Police Station showed that the suspects fired at about 200 meters away from the school and hit the 28-year-old and 23-year-old victims in the shoulder and back.
They were supporters of a candidate and had just visited their fellow poll watchers and reportedly leaving in a pickup truck when they were shot.
They were taken to the Dr. Petronillo Seares Memorial Hospital in Bangued.
