CEBU CITY – Nine foreigners and two Filipinos were arrested after they were caught carrying bags filled with cash amounting to close to P500 million at the Mactan-Cebu International Airport (MCIA).

Seven bags containing bundles of cash in P1,000 denomination were recovered from them. Total amount of the money was said to be P441 million.
They were headed to Manila on a chartered flight when they were intercepted around 9 p.m. on Friday, May 9.
The money was discovered when their bags were inspected through X-ray machines.
After the discovery, the Aviation Security Unit coordinated with the Police Regional Office-Central Visayas (PRO-7) for further investigation.
PRO-7 has yet to issue a statement regarding the matter as of posting time.
