The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) on Monday, Feb. 17 said fair weather due to partly cloudy skies and the absence of a tropical cyclone will prevail across most of the country over the next two days.
PAGASA Weather Specialist Rhea Torres said residents across most regions can expect clear skies and pleasant weather conditions, which will persist until Wednesday, Feb. 19.
“Walang kumpol ng ulap na maaaring magdala ng buong araw na tuloy-tuloy na ulan sa halos buong kapuluan (There are no clusters of clouds that could bring continuous rainfall throughout the day to most of the archipelago),” she said.
As of Monday, Torres noted that the northeast monsoon (amihan) will bring rains to Batanes, Cagayan, and Apayao, while Isabela and Aurora will experience scattered rains and isolated thunderstorms due to the shear line.
Scattered rains and thunderstorms will also affect Palawan, Basilan, Sulu, and Tawi-tawi due to the Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ).
“Inaasahan natin ang patuloy na maaliwalas na panahon sa malaking bahagi ng kapuluan sa susunod na dalawang araw o hanggang Miyerkules (Fair weather is expected to persist across most of the archipelago for the next two days or until Wednesday,” Torres said.
“Pagdating ng Thursday ay maaaring magdala ng pag-ulan ang easterlies o yung mainit na hangin na galing sa Pacific Ocean sa eastern sections ng bansa (By Thursday, Feb. 19, the easterlies, or warm winds from the Pacific Ocean, may bring rainfall to the eastern sections of the country),” she added.
