BACOLOD CITY – A cat rescued by an animal welfare group in Sunrise Village, Barangay Blumentritt, Murcia, Negros Occidental on Wednesday, March 19, died the next day from multiple stab wounds while under treatment in a veterinary clinic here.

A Facebook post by Bach Project PH said a three-year-old cat named Moymoy was found by his owner severely injured and bleeding when they checked on him hiding under the bed.
In a desperate attempt to save him, the owner tried to stitch his intestines to stop the bleeding, the animal welfare group said.
The group rescued the cat from his home and brought him to the veterinary clinic. He underwent emergency surgery and was in critical condition, relying on oxygen to survive.
After a few hours, Moymoy finally opened his eyes, but was still weak and struggling, though his temperature had stabilized slightly.
However, at 4:45 a.m., Bach Project PH posted an update online saying that Moymoy passed away in his sleep.
“He fought so hard. Despite the pain, despite everything he had been through, he held on as long as he could. We hoped for a miracle, but his tiny body was too weak. His suffering is over now, but the pain of losing him is heavy,” the group said.
The group thanked everyone who prayed, donated, and hoped for him. “Though he is gone, his story must be a reminder that no animal should ever endure this. We must continue to fight for them,” the group said.
Blumentritt is also the barangay where two dogs named Tiktok and Buldog were injured by dart arrows and rescued by the animal welfare group.
The local government condemned the barbaric behavior and said this does not reflect the true values of the people of Murcia.
Police urged pet owners to be responsible and encouraged the public to report incidents of animal cruelty to authorities for immediate action.
