A total of 59 couples, including three elderly couples, exchanged "I dos" in San Juan City's Valentine's Day Kasalang Panlungsod on Friday, Feb. 14 at the San Juan Gymnasium.
The mass wedding was officiated by Mayor Francis Zamora and was also attended by his wife Keri Zamora, Rep. Bel Zamora, Vice Mayor Angelo Agcaoili, and other city government officials.
Representatives from the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) were also present during the event.
“San Juan City’s annual Kasalang Panlungsod is our way of supporting every San Juaneño couple in their journey of love and commitment. We are excited to witness these 59 pairs begin their lives together as married couples,” the mayor said.
Held every Feb. 14, the annual mass wedding is part of Makabagong San Juan’s commitment to strengthening family values, unity, and love—the foundation of a strong community.
Each couple also received a wedding cake, a bouquet for the bride, a sumptuous wedding reception, and P5,000 to celebrate their union with their six witnesses.
Aside from free childbirth services at the San Juan Medical Center, the city government passed City Ordinance No. 39, Series of 2022 or the Golden Wedding Anniversary Incentive Ordinance, wherein married couples who are still happily married and will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary will receive P50,000 as an incentive from the local government.
