Former senator Ping Lacson gave the highest compliment to Department Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary Benhur Abalos during what's arguably the lowest post of his tenure in the agency.

"DILG Sec. Abalos is a good, decent person. I hope he wins a Senate seat," Lacson wrote in a Facebook post on Friday, Sept. 6.

Lacson was obviously taking up the cudgels for Abalos amid the allegations that the DILG and law enforcement agencies had been giving Philippine Offshore Gaming Operator (POGO) personality Alice Guo preferential treatment.

Guo, the former Bamban, Tarlac mayor, was fetched from Indonesia via chartered plane. She flew out of the Philippines under the radar last July 18.

The way that Abalos and other persons of authority have taken their pictures with Guo have rubbed netizens the wrong way, especially since the captured fugitive have appeared to be quite chummy with them.

At any rate, Lacson shared what he called his "unsolicited advice" to the rumored 2025 elections Senate hopeful.

“In politics, don’t say or do anything that you need to explain later to address massive criticisms," Lacson said.
