Marcos vows quality jobs, affordable goods to ensure PH progress

President Marcos assured the public that his administration would strive to sustain the country's progress through quality jobs and affordable goods to give Filipinos comfortable lives.

Marcos said this as the country's inflation rate declined to 3.3 percent in August from 4.4 percent in July. The figure is comfortable within the government's target range of 2.0 to 4.0 percent.

In a social media post on Thursday, Sept. 5, the President vowed that his administration will continue pursuing measures to give Filipinos comfortable lives as he "celebrated" the country's inflation rate slowing down in August.

"Patuloy ang trabaho (We will continue working)," Marcos said.

"Ipagpapatuloy natin ang pag-usad upang matiyak na makakamtan ng bawat Pilipino ang mas komportableng buhay—sa pamamagitan ng dekalidad na trabaho at murang bilihin (We will sustain our progress to ensure that every Filipino will have a comfortable lives through quality jobs and affordable goods)," he added.

In his post, President Marcos enumerated the measures his administration took to achieve the decline in the country's inflation rate.

"By reducing rice tariffs, we brought rice inflation down from 20.9 percent to 14.7 percent, and meat inflation also eased from 4.8 percent to 4.0 percent, na malaking ginhawa para sa pang araw-araw na gastusin ng mga pamilya (which is a great relief for families' daily expenses)," he said.

According to Marcos, they will expand the Kadiwa ng Pangulo program in Visayas and Mindanao to ensure Filipinos in different parts of the country have access to affordable goods.

He noted that the government has also commenced the "controlled rollout" of African swine fever (ASF) vaccines to ensure that there would be enough pork supply and to avoid a hike in its price in the markets.

He likewise mentioned how the government's action for more stable transportation and fuel prices helped ease the public's burden.

"These are concrete steps we’re taking to make sure that the Bagong Pilipinas we promised is felt where it matters most—at home," Marcos said.
