The Department of Justice (DOJ) and the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) will be sending teams to Indonesia where dismissed Mayor Alice L. Guo of Bamban, Tarlac was arrested.
“We are looking at sending our prosecutors,” said DOJ Secretary Jesus Crispin C. Remulla during a press briefing on Wednesday, Sept. 4.
Apart from the prosecutors, Remulla said “We are sending an NBI team over” composed of senior agents.
Local Government Secretary Benhur Abalos and Philippine National Police Chief General Rommel Marbil have already expressed the possibility that they, too, will also be going to Indonesia.
Though the PNP has expressed its intention to take custody of Guo once she arrived in the country, Remulla said discussions will take place to determine where she will be detained.
“Alam mo hindi kami magkalaban ng PNP. Magkakampi kami. (We are not at odds with the PNP. We are allies) It should not be an issue,” Remulla said.
Meanwhile, Remulla said that investigation continues to find out how Guo fled the Philippines and determine who might have helped her including those in government.
He lamented that Bureau of Immigration (BI) Commissioner Norman Tansingco did not immediately inform him that Guo was no longer in the PHilippines.
“Kaya hindi kami nag-uusap hanggang ngayon. Hindi tama ‘yung ganoong klaseng asal (That’s why we are not talking. That’s not the right attitude),” he said.
