SAGIP Party-list Rep. Rodante Marcoleta announced via Facebook on late Monday night, Sept. 30 his intention to once again run for senator in the May 2025 mid-term elections.

"Dahil po sa lumalakas na panawagan ng ating mga kababayan, at bunsod na rin po ng mga huling kaganapang pampulitika, ay pormal ko pong inihahayag ang aking pagtakbo bilang senador sa nalalapit na halalan," Marcoleta said in a 19-second clip.

(Because of the growing clamor of our countrymen and due to the latest development in politics, I am formally announcing my candidacy for senator in the upcoming elections.)

"Wala na pong atrasan ito (There is no turning back now)," added the former House deputy speaker, a seeming reference to what transpired in the May 2022 polls.

Marcoleta, in the final weeks of the budget process in the House of Representatives, had been observed as taking up the cudgels for Vice President Sara Duterte.

The lawyer-solon campaigned for senator under the UniTeam banner in 2022, but withdrew from the Senate race just a few weeks away from the actual polls.

It remains to be known if Marcoleta will join a national political ticket for his latest Senate bid, or simply run as an independent.
