Body of father who drowned along with son in Ilocos Sur found

SANTO DOMINGO, Ilocos Sur – Authorities have recovered the body of a man who drowned along with his son in the sea of Barangay Calay-ab here.

Ilocos Sur Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Officer Rhon Arquelada said the body of Rowell M. Paat, 37, of Barangay Bagong Silang, Quezon City, was discovered at 9 a.m. on Sunday, September 29, near the area where his son’s body was found on Saturday, September 28.

Arquelada said the victims’ bodies have been claimed and brought to their residence for their wake.

Investigation said the victims were swimming and taken away by the strong current and drowned.

Rowell’s son, Artearchealauz, 16, was rescued a few minutes after the incident but he was declared dead in a hospital.
