Model and fitness coach Aeron Cruz guested on our YouTube show, WTFu, five years ago (lakas ng dating mo bro!) He was part of the first batch of boys featured in our first season. (akala ko nga magiging kami. chos!) We got exciting comments from viewers because of his answers and antics during the naughty interview and game segment. (kinilig nga ako bro!)

We never imagined that he would be involved in a scandal. In 2019, Aeron and a girl companion were apprehended by the police in a buy-bust operation.

“May nagchat sakin na girl, sabi nya iinom kami o gigimik kami sa BGC. Di ko po alam na yung girl, may kasama na po pala syang naka-civilian na pulis na taga PDEA. Dun na po nagsimula yung sinasabi nilang buy-bust operation,'' Aeron recalls.

All the while I thought he was already cleared with all the charges filed against him because in 2022, I even got an instagram message from him. (nangangamusta at siempre di ko na kasi sya inurirat sa mga bagay bagay!)

“Hindi ko po sinabi sa inyo na nakakulong ako kasi baka matakot ka sakin. May mga ilang kaibigan kasi ako na  pag nagmessage ako, hindi ako pinapansin o binoblock ako.  Nakakapagpost ako sa ig ng mga dati kong photos kasi pagdinadalaw ako ng parents ko, pwede ako makigamit ng cellphone,'' Aeron explains (as in puro hubad pa rin yung mga photos na nakikita ko ha!)

Being in jail is no joke. “Hindi po maganda siempre minsan yung experience kasi maliban sa mainit, masikip at di masarap ang pagkain, magkakaiba kaming tao. May mga iba dun na pabalik balik na. Hindi maiiwasan na magtatalo kayo dahil sa init ng ulo at di pagkakaintindihan, pero may sinusunod kaming batas o magna carta sa loob. Pag di ka sumunod, pwede kang maparusahan.”

One of his most memorable moments was sharing the detention cell with actor Vhong Navarro, who was involved in a different case.  Aeron first met Vhong on the set of It’s Showtime. He was a finalist in the show’s Gandang Lalaki contest.  (ay ako maganda bro!)

“Masaya siyang kasama. Marami akong natutunan sa kanya tulad ng hindi dapat mawawala yung hope at faith. Magtiwala at manalangin ka lang sa Panginoon. Sabay po kami kumakain, Sabay din kami nagbabasketball sa loob,'' Aeron shares.

Aeron remembers an emotional conversation with Vhong : “Nung makakalaya na sya, niyakap niya ako nang mahigpit at sinabi niya na ikaw na next na lalaya Aeron. Parang maluha luha sya nun. Kasi answered prayer nya yung makalaya. Nalungkot ako kasi siempre may pinagsamahan kami pero may halong kasiyahan para sa kanya."

After five years and one day, Aeron was acquitted and granted liberty. “Nagpapasalamat ako sa pamilya ko, sa nanay at tatay ko. kasi di nila ako iniwan at di ako pinabayaan sa haba ng panahon na nasa kulungan ako. Pati siempre sa sister ko, na di nila ako tinalikuran. Siempre sa Panginoon sa pagsagot sa araw araw kong dalangin sa Kanya."

Aeron’s full interview is now uploaded on WTFu’s YouTube Channel. “Ang plano ko ngayon is makabawi ako sa parents ko. Tutulungan ko po sila. Kung ano yung naitulong nila sakin, gusto ko yun suklian. May plano rin ako makabalik sa TV, sa showbiz, para makainspire na rin sa tao, lalo na sa kabataan.” (tara gym na tayo bro!
