50 heads of cattle, carabao drown in rampaging rivers


CAUAYAN CITY, Isabela – Fifty heads of cattle and a carabao drowned in rampaging rivers at the height of tropical storm “Enteng” in Barangay Salay, Agdanganan, Isabela and Barangay Duminit here on Monday, September 2.

Kagawad Rodolfo Gazzingan said that more than 40 cattle owned by 13 farmers were swept away in Barangay Salay.

Eleven cattle and one carabao drowned in Barangay Duminit, Chairman Dante dela Peña said.

Evacuees

Five-hundred five individuals were evacuated during the onslaught of Enteng in this province on Monday.

Isabela Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Officer (PDRRMO) Constante Foronda said evacuees were from the towns of Echague, San Guillermo, Aurora, Jones, and Roxas, and Cauayan City. 

Thirty-four have yet to return home.

Relief packs

The Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office readied 5,000 relief packs while the DSWD prepared 8,000 relief packs.

Foronda said they are monitoring the Cagayan River and the management of Magat Dam is studying the possible release of  water on Wednesday, September 4.

La Union

Twenty-one flooding and landslide incidents caused by Enteng were recorded in the City of San Fernando, La Union.

The La Union provincial government reported cracks on one lane of the Santa Rita East section of the Aringay-Tubao Road but it is passable to all types of vehicles.

All road sections in La Union are passable.

Ten families or 33 individuals in five barangays in the City of San Fernando and municipality of Rosario were affected by the tropical cyclone.

Seven families or 24 individuals are being served inside the six evacuation centers and one family or three individuals are staying outside.

A clearing operation was conducted in Barangay Catbangen, City of San Fernando in partnership with the city government of San Fernando on Tuesday, September 3.

Gov. Raphaelle Veronica "Rafy" Ortega-David reminded the people to exercise caution as Enteng has yet to leave the country and report any emergency to La Union Rescue 911.

No fatalities were reported in La Union from Enteng.
